Quail Egg Incubators & Hatching Quail Eggs
Quail are quick to hatch and easy to keep. Here’s which of our incubators suit quail, how many eggs fit, and how to hatch them.
Quail eggs at a glance
- Days to hatch: 17–18 (Coturnix / Japanese quail)
- Temperature: 37.5–37.8°C in a fan-assisted incubator
- Humidity: 45–55% while setting, 65–70% for the last 3 days

Which incubator for quail?
Quail eggs are about a third the size of chicken eggs, so far more fit per machine. As a guide, an incubator holds roughly 2.5 times its chicken-egg number in quail eggs when you use quail trays.

Tips for hatching quail
- Quail eggs are fragile and speckled, so candling is harder. Use a bright LED egg tester in a dark room.
- Quail chicks are tiny and can drown in a normal drinker. Use a quail drinker or put pebbles in the water dish for the first week.
- Keep the brooder at about 35°C for the first week, then lower it a few degrees each week.
- Line the hatching tray with mesh or paper towel with texture so chicks don’t get splayed legs.
